Pin worms in bearded dragon poop3/16/2024 ![]() Team Snake is doing great! See below for pictures of our wily snake catching days. ![]() What is so incredible about this project is that it not only contributes to our lab’s research, but also contributes to a research on a species that has been recognized as a conservation concern according to the U.S. On top of that his poop hasnt been consistent at all, whether its different colors (lighter or darker) or whether its wet, or dry, or solid or anything. However today I get home and notice, there is literally half a worm not digested at all. Team Snake spends the morning in the field at different sites catching snakes by hand, and then many MANY hours each afternoon/night providing physical exams, logging a variety of data, swabbing snakes, and monitoring and recording lesions, among other things. My bearded dragon has seemed to be doing quite well lately, hes been eating, basking, and pooping regularly. This past week both Bryce and I had the amazing opportunity to work with Team Snake as part of the annual Lake Erie Watersnake (LEWS) surveillance study, aptly nicknamed ‘Nerodio’ after the genus name ( Nerodia sipedon insularum ). So my question is, is this a normal smell for a bearded dragons poop heres a little info, shes 6 months old about a foot or so long she eats 20-100 meal worms a day and maybe 2-3 crickets and a little bit of collard greens. I had just successfully captured my first water snake, a completely new (and somewhat terrifying) experience for me. When she pooped for her first time i couldnt stand the smell but this time it didnt smell as bad. Bearded dragons are typically infested with internal parasites, such as pinworms and roundworms, which cannot be seen in the feces. They are probably commensal organisms, in which the parasite benefits from living in the lizard while the lizard is neither harmed nor benefits from the parasite. Since you do have a count & have had a fecal done, that does help. Pinworms and several types of motile protozoa are common parasites that live within bearded dragons' gastrointestinal tracts in small numbers. My right hand shot out and grabbed the snake around midbody. No, it is not possible to see worms in bearded dragon poop. Hello, Yes, you can usually safely medicate your dragon for worms, parasites & protozoans, etc. A typical baby bearded dragon will urinate the most at anywhere from 1 to 3 times daily via passing the white part of the poop (urate). How often a bearded dragon urinates is going to vary for each pet. (Shout out team Snake!) pointed silently to the Lake Erie water snake sunning itself on the rocks. Bearded dragons do NOT urinate in the same manner as what you typically think other animals do it. ![]() I tried to move as quickly and quietly as I could but was probably making a ridiculous amount of noise. I scrambled down the rocks, my water logged hiking shoes weighing me down. She has a hot spot of 90-100 and yeah thats about it keep in mind i have a very small room anyways it's like a mountain of poop not a log and there's a white log in it aswell.Īlso she's on a reptisun 5.0 uvb bulb and her poop looked alot bigger today then the picture below but it looked the same.Kennymac taking a picture of a superficial skin lesion on a neonate water snake I used to bathe her every day but now i've bathed her once in 3 days so i think that's where the wateriness comes from. So my question is, is this a normal smell for a bearded dragon's poop here's a little info, she's 6 months old about a foot or so long she eats 20-100 meal worms a day and maybe 2-3 crickets and a little bit of collard greens. ![]() When she pooped for her first time i couldn't stand the smell but this time it didn't smell as bad. Blood can also enter their system through bacteria found in foods like spinach and lettuce. When they eat red foods, the color of their poop may be influenced by the red color. Hey guys so i've had my bearded dragon for a little over a week and havn't had any problems BESIDES HER POOP! they're huge and smell like burnt grass/lettuce and stink up my room pretty quickly theres alot of white and it looked a bit runny but that's probably because i cleaned it seconds after. The presence of blood in bearded dragon poop, if left on, could indicate infection or impaction by internal parasites like tapeworms. ![]()
